This, of course, aside from the fact that the original history of Vecna wasn't written under 3E rules. Did you try to convert a 2E campaign to 3E, and notice how somethings didn't quite fit? If we can't convert all the non-epic level PCs cleanly, why should empic and deity class critters have it easy?
