Verbobonc? Detailed? At Last?

Not bad for a CC2 map, but it doesn't look much like Verbobonc City, which was detailed in the Greyhawk module, Fate of Istus. In a section written by Rob Kuntz, no less. Of course, that description bares little resemblence to the version in Vecna Lives!, another Greyhawk mod.

Sorry, but given the subject line, it was a bubble I had to burst. ;)

BTW, if anyone wants to go look through the Oerth Journal archives on Canonfire, you'll find a huge two part article that details the Viscounty and its surrounding environment, including Hommlet, Nulb, and the Emridy Meadows area. I believe its back somewhere around issue 6 or 7. It's an incredibly detailed and damn fine article. Anyone running ToEE or RttToEE should download it. In fact, any GH DM who doesn't have every issue of the OJ downloaded and printed out is slacking. :p

Verbobonc Details - sources

Hi Golem Joe

Yes, I used both articals from the Oerth Journal. As well, I used the Fate of Istus map.
Unfortunatly, the fate of Istus map, and others all conflicted. I did extensive searches to find out which one was 'official', but no luck.
I based the map (80%) on the 3-D map widely available on the net.
I used the following sources for use in the map and the text description (.pdf). All were listed in the 'forward' of the .pdf:

The D&D Gazetteer,
Fate of Istus adventure & Map,
The Living Greyhawk Gazetteer,
The Codex; Verbobonc documents (Oreth Journal) & ‘3-D’ Map,
The RPGA: Living Greyhawk Campaign; Verbobonc & Furyond websites.

Before our group took a brief D&D hiatus in favor of d20 Modern, we were adventuring in and around Verbobonc. Thanks for sharing this fine array of material, and very nice work!!

Banesfinger,

I am a GH DM and am always looking for quality material on the net since WOTC has shown no support to the World of Greyhawk. Your write up on Verbobonc is very nice and I appreciate you putting it out there for us to use. Thanks.

The raw CC2 (map) file is now availible on the website for those of you who have the ProFantasy software.
Now you can modify the map to suit your campaign's needs (or just to zoom in a little more to get more detail out of the maps).
:)

Outstanding stuff Banefinger! Thanks-- my LoT game has some roots in Verbobonc, and maybe I can contrive to take the action there!

Banesfinger,

Did you you use a special format for the city overview? I would like to use your write up as a guide to write up a city I created in Geoff. Thanks for the help.

Outstanding work, Banesfinger!
I can't use CC2 myself on my system. Is there any chance the maps can be saved as PDFs?

~D

edit: NM, I think I answered my own question after messing with the jpgs. :)
