A comprehensive review of S&S (which I think is out now in a revised edition) would be much appreciated!
As observed, most of the others are available for free download (including, I think, the "quick start" C&C product from Free RPG Day).
Absent the opportunity to get a look and judge for oneself, a deeply informative review is invaluable.
I think the game would have alot more appeal if people actually knew what it was like! I know I was quite surprised (in a good way) and it was not what I expected (again in a good way) Hence the reason I want to do the review. I hope to get it done..err... "soon"
One of the confusing things is that there are a few different versions of S&S. and another one was recently added.
I have the Pocket edition book which is latest and "final" version of the revised rules in the smallest book size format.
Then there is the "3 little brown books" version (also revised) as well as the original rules version (which has the % thief skills, and other non D6 mechanics and apparently bad art?)
There is also a supplement for the "revised/pocket" editions called Monstrous Mayhem which includes new Elite Paths (Necromancer, Ranger, Druid, etc) more spells, more monsters, a mass combat system, naval combat, and plenty of other goodies. For owners of the original rules, it also tells you how to "convert" the game to all D6.
That supplement (MM) been rolled into the recently released "Deluxe" version of the game-which the Author has stated WILL be the final version of the rules barring eratta (i.e. its the revised rules and the supplement all rolled into one colume)
I think the Author would be wise to clean up the LULU page of the old editions to avoid all this confusion (EDIT- actually it looks like he has recently- yay!)
