Video gamey

Sadly, I don't have a PC with enough guts to even boot up a NWN game, though I have played Diablo and Diablo II (minus the expansion) as well as the PS2 Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 and Champions of Norrath 1 and 2... oh, yeah, and I've played the PC versions of Baldur's Gate 1 and 2.

To wit, I think the Baldur's Gate PS2 series has many of the aspects one might want in a "video gamey" D&D. Allowing a player to have abilities of a prestige class up front (example: the "arcane archer" from the original Baldur's Gate PS2) has HUGE appeal to me.

As for D&D 3.x being "video gamey", I agree 95%. The implied emphasis of board wargaming and getting loot to improve stats... it's hard for me NOT to think of the system as a video game. Granted, it's all about how you play, but that's just how I see the system.

Well in NWN you don't get XP (or treasure) for killing other PCs, so I understand their position; the game doesn't support what you wanted to do.

That is true. In hindsight, (And I've talked with other NWN DM's about it) It's better to tell the DM online what you would like to do, that way when upset characters do complain, the DM can post bounty's or reward xp to whoever succeeds. Many thought that it would be a good idea, because certain modules get a little stale when everbody is familiar with it. Player created twists make things more interesting.
