Virtual Tabletop in action video

Last week I played in a one shot skirmish (run by snikle of FUM fame) with SavageWorlds rules in an Alien world.

During the 5-6 hour game I ran a little program I wrote that snapshots the screen every so often. I set it up to snap every 5 seconds. Afterward I made a little time-lapse movie of the evening, turning 5-6 hours into about 6.5 minutes :)

The quality of the video is pretty horrid because of the levels of high compression of a large screen (oops, know better for next time), but it's still fun to see a VTT in action.

For context, there were five of us, using ventrilo for out of character stuff, and using the built-in chat for in-game in-character speech and rolls.

If you are interested in checking it out, you can find the post and movie here:

man, that is cool! I have used MapTools for some time, but I haven't taken the time to work with the layers (sight). Looks like it is time to learn the real power of the tool...

It really adds a whole new level to the "crawl" experience :)

Note that the version we used is the current development version, some features (such as the pop up statsheet) are only available in the development version.
