"Why don't we just follow that guy you saw watching us 'round the ally?" Solange asks. "If we go now, we can catch 'em"
OOC: Can we? From the way the spot check was described, I assumed we lost him fairly quickly, and have been going for a while since then. All this chatting doesn't really seem like the sort of thing you do on a chase.

OOC - I'd say not. Vanon Arimae on the other hand might still be at home at 902 Merchant's Avenue. :p

Rathan looks about carefully....with the new information and the fading light in unfamilliar territory for himself he'd rather settle into an inn or tavern for a bit of drink and a good nights rest... again they really didn't seem to have that avenue of leisure and sighed softly....

" Well my friends... we must deside quickly, we're rapidly running out of daylight and we don't really know what kind of folk lurk here at night do we?.... Or maybe that might be exactly what we need. If these blacklily are thievish types, possibly leaving the healers 'alone' with the others gathered here watching nearby may draw a couple out to attack us, and then we've got them!" the rather overexcited cleric pronounced as he shot his idea out for all to mull over and deside apon...

Conuld gets exasperated. Something of his mild-mannered librarian facade drops from him. "We have altogether too many options and no way to select the most promising. Was Vanon Arimae at home when you, Saithnar and Cludge looked at the crime scene? We could watch for him to leave for his night's nefarious business and follow him wherever he goes, until we find evidence of his wrongdoing, although there are seven of us and that might prove difficult. I hasten to add, I speak hypothetically, and do not mean to impugn his good name without cause.
"Your thief-bait plan is good. Or we could stay close to a dock and watch for Blacklilies attempting to board a ship on one of their raids. They would be vulnerable as they tried to cross the water.
"Or we could wander around the seedier parts of the north harbour, looking for trouble - perhaps even shouting for it, as Cludge suggests, though I think that might involve tackling the entire gang at once.
"As I say, too many options, and no means to know which will work the best. We should pick one and trust to fate."

"I hypothesize that, if we discreetly ask a tavern landlord or two if they know how we might make contact with the Blacklilies, the worst that can happen is that they hear of it and ambush us, which is exactly what the 'cleric bait' plan attempts to accomplish. Besides, there is a reasonable chance that we might succeed in making nonviolent contact with them. In which case, the talents of our persuasion specialist--" Tommy nods to Saithnar "--may be pivotal."

OOC:
A couple of thoughts:
1. It's probably too early to confront Vanon Arimae; we'd need more evidence of his possible involvement than an old man's rambling before questioning him.
2. Hanging about a tavern and overtly asking suspicious questions will likely advertise our intentions and drive our quarry underground. I suggest the brightest and most diplomatic quickly ask a few discreet questions at a tavern while the brawlers enter separately and watch the patrons' reactions (and as security).
3. Waiting around as thief-bait or trying to foil a Blacklilly attempt on a vessel is passive and could yield nothing. Keep as las t resort?
4. A crafty suggestion: perhaps Solange could take the scarf to a bartender and claim she's looking for a lost love who gave it to her when last they parted....

"All right," says Conuld, rather enjoying his unusual assertiveness and wondering how long it will last. "We go northwards, and head into the first tavern we see. Solange, tackle the landlord. Pendrake, Cludge, look disreputable and keep her safe. Saithnar, be ready to do whatever it is you do if things turn ugly. Rathan, try not to look so much like a paladin. Tommy and I will...er... provide backup?"

" though my plan is 'good' as you said... I think it best we gather as much information as we can without arousing too much suspision. A couple of questions to the tender as a few inns and tavenrs may do the trick but we must not split up. Only a couple of us enter the tavern, get a drink, and make small talk with the tender then if nothing crops up... off to the next bar? Having too many enter at once will arise suspision... this also might catch the attention of a blacklily or two as we wander from building to building, thusy throwing the thief-bait and info gathering into on plan.... Anyone have problems with this?" the wise priest asks as he looks about the group....

" bah... looks like we have our pecking order.... you're plan is a good as mine I'm willing to follow it, oh.. and by the way, priest, cleric if you will.. I'm far to humble to be a paladin leader... he says to Conuld with a smirk.

[sblock=OOC] bah... posted a little TOO slow.... and Trouvere.... I can see how you'd mistake him for a paladin.. he's rather charismatic with his leadership skills.... but alas Rathan is a humble cleric of Hyrag.... he just loves to hear himself talk sometimes heh.... much to my dismay heh[/sblock]

[sblock= For Wik] just a question... are you giving us a free switch of our spells?... I thought I'd ask before we got into combat or over our heads here heh.. I didn't happen to notice if you did so for those earlier in the thread so I'm asking now...[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] I, and Conuld, know that Rathan is a cleric - but he has the armour and shield and whatnot, and he worships a fairly 'militant' god. Conuld seems to be turning out somewhat more flippant than I anticipated, I'm afraid.

The first three casters in this thread got a free spell refresh.[/sblock]Conuld begins to stutter as he is apparently recognised as some sort of leader. "Oh no," he says, "I just thought we should begin doing instead of talking. I mean, yesterday, I just helped Baland with his scholarship. I've never done anything like this before."
