OOC so the groups are

1: Aiken and Pendrake

2: Cepheus, Solange and Mearran

That should even out the power balance.

Cepheus is able to sneak up on his guard, and gets fairly close. He begins to whisper the arcane words from the scroll. "what the...?" the guard says, and watches as the spell fizzles.

He gets ready to draw his blade. Cepheus is perhaps ten feet away from the guard, while the rest of his group are thirty feet away. There are only a few people about, and they don't notice anything. But that could change soon. Initiative for Cepheus' group, please.

Pendrake and Aiken sneak up on their guard, the Northerner being unusually silent. They get within ten feet of him before Pendrake slips up, and kicks a small stone. The guard, in an alleyway lined with refuse, turns around. Luckily, Aiken and Pendrake have the surprise round to take actions against him.
