If Lori can catch several of the hobgoblins in a color spray, she will. Otherwise, she will approach behind the others and fire a crossbow bolt at one of them.

(OOC: My comp is fairly slow right now - I have a slow internet connection. I'm fixing it fairly soon - need to if I want to play Halo online, ha - but I have to deal with it for a month or so more. Anyways, it means IC is a pain in the butt to use for games I GM. So I'm rolling at home. Trust me on the rolls, kay?)

T'Ranis makes his declaration, and pulls off a shot with his crossbow at the Ogre. The shot bounces off a stone, and the ogre doesn't even notice it.

Shadow manifests his power against the ogre... who rolls a 17 (without mods!) on his save. Shadow's abysmal luck is still holding, I'm afraid. The ogre feels a little hazy for a second, and then shakes the bees out of his head. He looks around confused for a moment, and spots your ragtag bunch. But he still advances upon the human defenders.

Guardian moves into position, blocking the ranged attackers.

Lori cannot move and cast in a surprise round, but she can get close enough to pull off a shot with her crossbow. She takes a few steps forward, and ducks behind a stone slab. She aims her crossbow and fires, but the bolt misses.

Haltash cannot get close enough to demoralize - the foot of the stairs, after all, is 40 feet away, making the ogre closer to 60 feet away. He can take another action in the surprise round, though.

Tondrek is not close enough to cast Heat metal, though he'll be able to move the 30 feet (Taking cover behind the fountain in the square) and cast it on the first round, if he wishes. He can move up in the surprise round, if he desires, or take a shot. He can still take an action this round.

END OF SURPRISE ROUND

Round One

Haltash begins to manifest an Astral construct in the surprise round.

***ROUND ONE***

T'Ranis pulls off another shot, and it ricochets off a stone slab and burrows into the root system of a tree. The Githzerai is feeling a bit woozy from his wounds, and can't quite compensate with his aim.

Shadow tries to bluff at the Ogre, who is already looking quizically at the group. Amazingly, Shadow's attempt works, and the Ogre looks away from your party at the archers. It sees them ready to fire another volley, and so it ducks behind a shattered slab of stone.

Guardian moves up slowly, reaching the foot of the stairs.

The Human archers, upon seeing your group arrive, fire with renewed vigor. All six of the humans, seeing the ogre distracted, fire upon the hobgoblins. (Two scored crits!). One of the hobgoblins fall down dead, and rolls down the stairs slowly, while another one is pierced by a bolt in his arm, and hesitates for only a moment.

The humans hand their crossbows to the young boys, who rapidly reload the weapons, and grab the spare crossbows. Three now have fully reloaded heavy crossbows; the other three must reload next round.

Lori is able to get within range of casting colour spray this round, by moving to the base of the stairs. Is colour spray still on the options list?

The three remaining hobgoblins realize they are stuck in a bad position. One of them yells in goblin (does anyone speak?) to the ogre, and the three ascend up the stairs at a full pace. Next round, they'll be able to make contact with the human defenders.

The ogre, meanwhile, grabs a large rock and hurls it over the heads of the approaching hobgoblins. The rock bounces off the ground and slams into the legs of one of the men reloading his own bow. Even from your distance, you can hear his bones pop out, and his body nearly flips from the impact of the stone barreling into his shins. Landing on his head, his body splays out on the ground, and is still.

Seeing the man die, and the hobgoblins moving forward, the three children loading crossbows move even quicker than they did before, if such a thing were even possible.

Haltash's construct manifests next to the ogre (the hobs are too far away), and can take an action. Haltash can, of course, take an action himself this round.

Tondrek moves up, and casts his infusion. One of the hobgoblins notices his armour getting hotter; the other resists the effect.

***END OF ROUND ONE***
