Just once I'd like to see a War of the Worlds adaptation set in the 1890s.

The 2019 British TV version was set in 1905.

Like most WotW adaptations, it was terrible.

I watched the whole thing and figured it was one of those fake AI trailers that are all over Youtube nowadays, but apparently it's real.

I guess the AI effects would look better.

This has very "What public domain property can we make a movie about?" energy. The effects look squirrely and I'm going to say AI generated. I can see it now; data poisoning replaces the Common Cold as the way they're killed. Maybe even the 'toxicity' of social media.
