Warhammer FRPG returning...

Hmmm....this makes me ponder.

I've heard reports that Games Workshop has received the rights for the seemingly defunct Lord of the Rings RPG from Decipher, and was going to produce for them.

Now, Green Ronin is apparently writing RPGs for Games Workshop. Is it possible that Green Ronin will be doing Lord of the Rings either with Decipher's system, or as a D20 adaptation, on behalf of Games Workshop?

Could be wishful thinking, but...

hmmm...

While this is wonderful news I wonder about support and the ability of WFRP to bring in new players. You have two setting out this year in Iron Kingdoms and Ebbron (sp) that look to offer the same taste in fantasy, magic and tech.

I just see it as a cult game and the second edtion just keeping that cult level.

I hope for a change in how hit points and toughness work. The current system makes a naked dwarf as tough as a human in full plate and perfectly capable of taking axe blows without a scratch.

I'd also like a couple of changes in the skill system, making it easier to learn a skill which isn't on your profile. Or at least equally easy for everyone; the current system requires an Int check and most meleers won't have more than 30 there.

I'd even take offense if the new edition of WFRP had a d20 version presented along side it.

You would be offended by a book which you could easily ignore, but which other might get use/enjoyment out of?

I am glad WFRP will be retaining its own core system, but I would love to see a Warhammer d20 book as well. I already 'borrow' heavily from Warhammer World for my D&D homebrew world, and this would make it easier.
