Pretty much. RAW says it's OK, but if you don't like it, don't let it happen. It really won't affect the game balance either way.

I disagree on the RAW.

Pg 186 of the PHB says otherwise.

I do think if you are going to allow it then you should waive the need for a creature to kill. It will just end up being fiddly and/or frustrating.

It doesn't say anything explicitly, that's true. However, an adventuring day is expected to include a couple of short rests, which means a 24-hour duration is very likely to hit one within the first few hours. Since you get the slot back anyway, you're better off taking the rest in all but a tiny handful of scenarios. If rest interrupts concentration, the 24-hour duration is nearly useless.

A DM could reasonably rule either way, but I think "short rest doesn't break concentration" makes more sense.

I disagree that rests are expected. Possible, sure, likely, even, but expected? Not so much.

And the spell's duration is plenty useful without imagining that it's only there so you can rest and regain the slot while it's active.

The duration says nothing on the topic. It doesn't support either side of the argument. It's necessary for the argument, I suppose, but then so is the existence of warlocks, so that's not really saying much.

Well, it *does* affect game balance, but not dramatically; warlocks get slightly more powerful, is all. Though I think there are some other Concentration spells with multi-hour durations, which would be affected by any ruling on Concentration during short rests.

No it doesn't. Repeat as needed.

You aren't allowed to take a short rest at the beginning of the adventuring day.

If you are going to go into threads and announce things as RAW that aren't, you should expect people to point out that you are wrong.

If you want to ignore the rules I have no problem with that and you should have no problem with it either. I don't understand the need to pretend the rules as written are different than they are.
