All this talk about Warlocks made me realize how little I care about this new class. Yes, it's cool and "new" but psions will for ever be more important to me and it bugs me that they always get treated like the red-headed stepchild of the family. Give me psionics first damn it!

Which do you prefer?

Warlocks still fit into a more "classic" fantasy trope, where psions are a more recent invention of modern fantasy, and not as suitable to a more "generic" game.

I do like a dash of psionics in my campaigns, but I:

1) think the new warlock sounds cool and intriguing
2) would rather see the psion plus a few other mind-power classes get their own entire book

I concur. At least in part because I like Psychic Warriors....

To do Psions right, they need there own subsytem, whereas the warlock incantations (at least in 3e) are mechanically lightweight.

Personally, I think they are a stupid class for players in the long-term, and that including them in the PHB is a waste of space. In a rules-light beginner set type thing, maybe, but given how everything that follows needs to take core into account, I think either would have been a mistake.

I picked psion, as they are one of my favorite classes. But psionics as a whole is something I'd like to see in a later book.

Psions are currently meaningless to me.

Right now they're wizards with a crack installed that makes them run on Spell Points 1.4 instead of Vancian 2.1. I find neither of these appealing.

Now, if psions were created so that you could have a genuine telekinetic, or a genuine pyrokinetic, I'd be ecstatic. I want dedicated psionicists, not polymaths like the 3e wizard. I want them to do one thing, and do it well.
