Ever since the first announcement of the Warlord, I've kept my opinion to myself. I didn't care for it because it didn't look like a class that I'd like to play.

Everything has confirmed that since then. That said, I still don't see why that's a problem. I think it's good to have a martial leader, but that doesn't mean I'd like playing one. I'm actually quite interested in a fighter much more than before. I like the idea of the fighter marking system and making it hard for things to get away. It really makes the fighter a "up in your face" kind of guy. I'm not against the warlord at all, I just feel it's not targeted towards me.
That's a healthy attitude. I hold it towards certain classes and races as well.

Do you think you might enjoy playing a Fighter alongside a Warlord? Not just in the sense of enjoying the Fighter in spite of the Warlord, but rather in the sense that having a Warlord in the party might make playing a Fighter even better?

I'm pretty excited about it so far. The initiative aura is useful, and is much easier to keep track of then other auras I've seen imo.

I think the warlord's charisma ability is a lot better than the rogue's one personally, and I love the warlord's new daily. A permanent bonus for an encounter is just awesome!!

First, let me say I'm a 4E lover.
But this class is the one thing I never liked in the new edition, ever since the first previews, and these are my main reasons:
- the name (IMHO it sucks but it was already discussed to death ;) )
- the military officer concept (maybe it's just my dislike for wars or anything military, especially military hierarchy)
- the whole order-other-players-around thing.

I have to say that the bossy aspect is very elegantly done. You can order other players without beeing bitchy, and they'll even thank you because you'll provide benefits. It's perfect for those players who can't shut up about what others should do in their turn :) hehehe

With this preview, I understand it more. It is a new concept which provides a whole new play experience and it is well built. Now I like it better and "accept" it's place in the game.

But in the end I still don't like it :D
I mean, I don't see myself playing one ever.

I want to see the warlord abilities, "On My Command, Unleash Hell!" and "Hold... hold... hold... now!"

'cause that'd be kewl.

I know the question wasn't directed at me, but thought I'd mention that my initially first planned character actually was a Fighter/Warlord multiclass. :D

Now I'm fairly certain it will be a pure Fighter, however, at least to begin with. That is without a doubt the class I'm mostly looking forward to see re-envisioned.

Inspiring Word
Using the inspiring word power, warlords can grant their comrades additional resilience with nothing more than a shout of encouragement.

Anyone notice this? With no actual power description or rules, I'm going to assume that this line was just the victim of some mighty bad article editing.

In any case... meh. Non-magical magic healer gets warhate.

It might be the same as "Channel Divinity," in that it's a set of abilities that fall under the same heading/linked-cooldown, so there might be different inspiring words.
