Water Problems [DM: Voda Vosa; Judge: Kalidrev!]

Seeing Frost move towards the hole Kavac moves towards the oasis and draws his maul. As at that instant he isn't attacked he reaches into his bag and removes a small metal drinking vessel. As he starts to drink the water he shouts over to Frost, "What is in the hole?" As soon as the words leave his mouth he starts on his second mug. Kavac may be tolerating the heat but he wouldn't swap the mountains for a desert just yet.

I move to K9 after drawing my maul. I then start to drink the water.

A wave of disappointment washed over Torqua. Despite their mission brief, she was still hoping for a tropical oasis like those in stories she had told, not a little humble puddle. However some water was better than no water at all, so she goes to the pond to refill her waterskin. "Well, if I were to guess, I'd say down that hole is where all the water went." Torqua answers. "Looks like some drained this oasis."

OOC: Moving up to M10

Well, you have endured the desert:
Level 2, Complexity 3, that's 375x2=750
Thats 150 xp for each of you gang.

Judge revision would be appreciated.

Also: Bump!

With the oasis now in sight, Myoko finally allowed herself a heavy sigh of relief. The journey through the desert had been a harsh one, but they were all still alive... She paused at the edge of the oasis long enough to put on her helmet and to check her weaponry. Then, keeping in line with her tactical ideas, she moved into the area cautiously, staying close to the sorceress.

OOC: Staying in position to provide tactical support to Torqua, but trying to stay on solid ground as well- so if she moves to M 10, Myoko will move to M 11. Remember allies within 10 squares get a +2 to Initiative rolls; maintaining passive Perception 14

OOC 2: Just some advance warning- I will be away from this Wednesday (11/25) to Sunday (11/29); I may have some internet access, or maybe not, and I will have no books or reference material.

Just so you know, Voda, the more times you give out XP, the more your players will have to link to the adventure in their character sheets. It's usually best to do the XP in larger chunks (one or two chunks in an encounter is usually good unless the adventure is particularly long, or in the odd instance that you know a character will level from that encounters' experience points you can give it then.

That being said...

XP APPROVED!

Vardaal almost laughs as the oasis comes in sight, he begins moving with all speed towards the water, his thirst from the long trip easily outweighing any caution he has. "Ha, we found it, Mr. Fanciest Hat be soooo happy. Not too much water though, but he no mind if Vardaal have just a little drink, you no tell him right?" the bugbear says as he begins moving towards the water.

Moving towards the water, unless something happens or Vardaal spots something (passive perception = 16)

Probably somewhere around H7

After drinking his fill Kavac tops up his water skins and strides over to the hole. He gives the mound of earth a quick glance but he concentrates mainly on the hole. Even to him the hole looks out of place. Kavac pulls up his sleeves as he does this and gives this hammer a few small swings.

I move to F6 and look in and around the hole and at the mound.
Perception: Hole - 26 | Mound - 8

Kavac, Torqua and Vardaal who approached the small pond notes that it's not what it looks. The water falls in a deep hole in the ground, like a tube of sand filled with water. However, neither of them can see the bottom of this pit.

As Kavan and Frost approach the hole, they hear a def scratching sound comming from the hole, pitching higher and higher. The both rais their weapons in anticipation.
From the hole emerges a fat worm like creature the size of a dwarf, pushing dirt and derbies with it's head. Not caring for the goliath and the shifter, the giant maggot piles the dirt in the pile. The new sand and dirt carries some bones and what seems like a helmet. The creature cocks it's head towards the mercenaries, and in a quick movement, turns around and slithers inside the hole, emmiting a low screech.

Seconds after the group manages to draw weapons, next to the hole, "something" burst out of the ground, sending a shower of wet sand over Kavac and Frost! As the mercenaries look in shock at the emerging creature, another one burst out of the sand next to Myoko and Torqua. Although the creatures don't crawl completely out of their holes, the adventurers can take a good look at the: Insect like creatures, like gigantic drill crickets. As the group studies their foes, from the new holes, two fat larvae crawl out as well.

These creatures seems much like an Ankheg, some kind of giant bug that lives in underground tunnels in farming areas. Although the last farm was hundreds of kilometers away.[/sblock]
[sblock=K. Nature 15]
Ankhegs? Here in the desert? Strange. But although slightly different from the ones you know, you are sure these are Ankhegs and their larvae. You remeber these creatures are dangerous vermin that often kill people to feed. These predators must be dealt with care[/sblock]
[sblock=K. Nature 20]
These are undoubtedly desert Ankhegs, an unusual variety. These creatures often dig extensive tunnel systems, that might held from 5 to 20 adult individuals along with larvae and juveniles. These dwellings also have breeding chambers where eggs are placed.[/sblock]
