Way to get girls (?!): the new column for the new Dragon.

I had a lot of trouble following her writing. It was written almost as if it was a girlfriend gossip like thing... perhaps I'll have my wife give it a read and see if she gets it.

What ever happened to the teacher?

So the mind flayer was like, "I'm going to eat your brain." And I said "Grody!" and so cast Lightning Bolt, and he went, "As if. Spell resistance." And then Peggy said "Talk to the hand" and was all totally stunning fist on him.

I like Shelly's writing, despite not being a girl myself. The girls in my office (who don't play) liked it enough that they're borrowing her book even though there sure that they'll never play D&D.

Of course, the idea behind writing the book is that they may be less sure when they're done reading it, right? Even if all it accomplishes is giving them a more concrete notion of the game than "it's some wierd thing Patlin does each weekend" that's all to the good, in my opinion.

Lol

Seriously, I feel like this would have been better served as a blog or livejournal...I just can't see being interested enough to read this as a regular column as of right now.

FTW! That's exactly how I felt about it... "Who cares?!? What does this rather petulant series of anecdotes have that could possibly interest me or anyone else as a gamer? Is it April 1st already?"

It's humor. Not everyone thinks the same things are funny, but I (and therefore at least one gamer) found it so.

Come on, didn't any of you chuckle at the "that which doesn't kill you" bit?

Get used to it, it is under "columns", which I assume means it is a regular feature. It didn't do anything for me - this is the kind of thing I expect to see in a weekly blog (with other stuff on the other days), not as a column in Dragon.
