Ways to prevent full attack?

The Ratling Mauler from OA is Large Monstrous Humanoid w/ 15' natural reach. Wonderful for combat and "long" range healing touches.

How to prevent full attack on your person by a fighter? Basically, make 'em move 10 feet. :)

You can:

-ready an action to move away from them if they full attack; action goes off just before their action, and they could still follow and hit you with one attack, but it would spoil their full action.

Use tumble to attack and then move away from them. Again, if they want to full attack you, they have to follow you.

Against people with reach, it's tougher, but with tumble can still be done.

Arguable.

They could still follow you (assuming they hadn't taken a 5' step), but as to whether they can attack afterwards...

Let's say I go to cast a spell (standard action). This triggers your readied action, and you hit me for fifteen points of damage. "I've changed my mind," I say. "Instead of using my standard action to cast a spell, I'm going to whack you with my staff."

Allowable?

I'd say no... and thus, when I go to attack you, and your readied action triggers and you move away, my full round action is already allocated - full attack. I can make use of the 'switch-out' clause of the full attack to give up my remaining attacks for a move action, and follow you... but once I stop moving, that's the end of my round. I don't get to hit you again.

Remember that you have not commited yourself to a full attack untill you take your second swing. You can't ready a withdraw action (it is a full round action). So the fighter takes his first swing, you back up before he takes his second swing which trigers an AOO. The effect is giving him 2 swings at his best to hit.

Not at all. The fighter begins to take his first swing, but since he's attacking you, your Readied action triggers, and you move before that first attack resolves. You would provoke an AoO, since you can't Withdraw... but that's why you're tumbling, avoiding the AoO.

The effect is giving him no swings. He can follow you, but he can't attack afterwards.

Yep, you can avoid a complete full attack this way, by trading it against an AoO (unless you can tumble or something like that, of course).

if you aren't committed to a full attack action until your second swing, then an opponent readying an action to a full attack action would have to wait until the second swing started before he could move...otherwise he'd have to ready it to any attack you make.
