Weapon Size Question

The rules don't mention anything about the range increment changing when your size changes.

If that seems bizarre to you, you might adopt the rule in the A&EG - each size category changes the range increment of the weapon by 25% (up or down).

How does that work exactly?

Your javelin becomes large and its range increment drops by 25%?

Does that apply to bows? Crossbows?

Does that mean that a range weapon has a range of 0 if its size increases 4 times?

Speaking strictly for myself, I'm going to *increase* the range increment by 25% when the size increases. The missile does get larger but the strength behind the missile also increases. Is this an exact reflection of real world physics? No. But I think it works as a reflection of the fantasy physics that D&D uses. I want my Giants to have bows that shoot over the horizen... :)

For me, it is reflective of perception/relativity as well.

Two 12 foot tall giants at 400 feet apart perceive themselves to be identical as two 6 foot tall humans at 200 feet apart or two 3 foot tall halflings at 100 feet apart.

The chances of hitting a target of that size at that range should be identical in all three of these cases.

A&EG says bigger -> further, smaller -> shorter.

Large Longbow -> 125 ', Small Longbow -> 75'.

Whether a Tiny longbow is 75% of 75 or 50% of 100, they don't say.

just to be a jackass, and because I was supposed to leave at lunch and it's 4pm and i'm still at work, what happens when a medium character tries to throw a gargantuan throwing axe? it travels further?

Well, my original question made the (possibly wrong) assumption that I was talking about weapons sized to the user. A Large human using a Large weapon for example. I personally would rule that a Medium human trying to throw a weapon larger than his normal size category would suffer a range penalty. But I have no problem with a Huge creature using a Huge weapon having it go farther than the same weapon sized for a Medium creature and used by a Medium creature.
