Weapons Locker, d20 Future, then what?

Psychic Skeksis

First Post
So after Weapons Locker (ho hum, more guns, yawn) and d20 Future (woo hoo!) what's in store for d20 Modern? Has WotC announced anything? Any rumours?

Where's the hardcover SHADOW CHASERS? The hardcover AGENTS OF PSI? The hardcover DARK*MATTER (yeah yeah, I know about the Polyhedron issue...but I want the real deal, dammit!)? Where's MENACE MANUAL II?

Come on, WotC...hook us up!

Why not look at third-party publishers?

Unless you thoroughly believe that all this OGL and d20 licensing are useless causes, analogy-wise that is like it was stupid of Microsoft to allow certain Windows code to be used by other great software companies to make Windows-based games.

Well. There are certain people who refuse to use anything unless it is by WotC. Many of those consider WotC to be the only "Official" product out there.
And that's valid for them. They're unnecessarily limiting themselves, and missing out on a lot of truly stellar products, but that's their choice.
No need to insult their choice.

Whoa, slow down, boys! I'm not one of these "only Wotc" fanboys. I use a lot of third party stuff, including non-d20 stuff (such as GURPS supplements). I was just wondering if anyone knew what WotC's plans were, that's all.

Say, on the subject of third-party stuff, can anyone comment on Mongoose's OGL Horror in terms of its suitability as a d20 Modern supplement?

Heh .. Sorry, man.. I was actually trying to head off what looked like an insult towards you for asking about WotC stuff...
Ranger REG may not have meant it like that, but it just... kinda looked that way... Kinda trying to run interference there. :)

I know. The same applies to D&D gamers who only buys Wizards' product.

That is sad.

Didn't mean to. I just thought that this community is a lot more open-minded than other communities that enjoy D&D-bashing and pride their game and only their game as being the better. I mean it's bad enough that they're saying d20 is not good for this genre or that. It's worse when our community think that only Wizards can do d20, when you got the more creative yet former Wizards designers doing things better (no offense, Wizards, even though you rely more on freelance writers) as third-party d20 publishers.

If only I can find some silver lining in such a dark cloud... Ah, yes. The Game Mechanics, already out with Modern Player's Companion, Martial Arts Mayhem, Modern d20 Screen, etc. Then there is RPGObjects with their Blood & Relics, Blood & Guts, Blood & Vigilance, etc.

Back to the topic...

AFAIK, there is no plan to make setting sourcebooks for the other two d20 Modern campaign models presented in the core rulebook.

yeha, well, I thought they might make a 3rd product for 2004, but the history of 2003 shows they only did 2 d20M products last year, and suggests that might continue as the trend...

I dunno if a big glossy Shadow Chasers hardcover would be the way to go, just because so much of that ground is covered by Urban Arcana.

Agents of PSI is different enough. Not my cup of tea personally, though.

Hmm...looking at other properties that would work as a d20 Modern hardcover, I'd have to say Top Secret. Yeah, I know Spycraft does the genre and does it well...but just seeing Orion and the Web again would put a smile on my face. Besides, Spycraft has fifty bazillion books already...I'm trying to get away from games that you don't buy, just subscribe to...
