Weird Sky

I hope you can see it well enough in this image (my 2.25 year old in the foreground), but there was a weird color effect in the sky. Look for the striations and tell me what you think is causing it. It had rained about two hours earlier. This was taken about 7:30 EST, looking nearly due east.

I think those are shadows.

If there is some humidity in the air, the droplets of water will reflect some sunlight down to the ground. The dark lines are then shadows of the trees & the tower.

Yup... that's pretty much it. Formally known as crepuscular rays.

Then they were anticrepuscular rays, since you were lookng away from the sun at the time.
