My 1st level wizard uses Action Surge against some orcs, and casts Sleep and Icy Terrain . . . and misses with every single attack vs. every single target!

Well, at least the difficult terrain slowed them down a bit.

No amount of optimization can counter my rotten dice luck. :)

Edit: And my poor memory! Those orcs should have been slowed on the difficult terrain, even with the miss! Argh! :)

Hehehe i know the feeling, a while ago we ruled an natural 20, three times in a row was an instant kill.. Guess what the fighter rolled on an boss that was not immune to criticals..

That's some bad luck there. Though it does go to show that the Sleep tactic isn't all-powerful.
 


In the
skeleton corridor, area 7
in Keep on the Shadowfell, my entire party had 1 hitpoint between them when they
made it to the altar of Bahamut and started praying
. There was then an undignified scramble to heal the characters who were dying.
