What Apple Should I Get?

I'd like to thank everyone for chiming in. I went to a CompUSA on mym vacation and looked over both flavors of Macs there. Ooooh.

However, I found out also that - despite what I could have sworn I saw - City of Heroes is not available for the Mac so the entire question is moot now. Dang. For some reason I also thought WoW had family accounts, but they don't.

So, that pretty much ends my searching before it ever begins. Looks like I'm stuck with Windows and it's messes for some time to come. (Yes, I know there are other operationg systems other than Windows, but I need something I start and never fool with after that.)

Nah. Get a mac mini (or an imac) and a windows gaming machine. Note that the windows machine starts spending more and more time turned off. Become an addict. Like me.

Like I said, hold off until early next year, then. The Intel machines should ship next spring, and you may be able to load up your Windows games in Virtual PC (or dual boot).

I've actually had the opposite experience, mostly because I understand what's going on in a Windows machine and when something screws up hardwarewise I'm not having to deal with people who know what they're doing - I can usually just go to wherever and buy a replacement. I covet the wide screen monitors on some of the Macs I've used, and some of the software for Macs, but generally XP machines do everything I want them to do without worrying about if something has been ported over or converted. And besides, I'm not opposed to evil so I don't have a problem supporting Microsoft on any ethical grounds.

I suppose it's possible that because the majority of the Apple machines I've used were work related that I'm not "getting it", but even when I'm goofing off I find that the differences are either minimal or favor the PC. I can crash a Mac and PC exactly as often running graphics programs, and make them run crappy doing the same tasks. BUT, Macs are definitely prettier than anything less than an Alienware PC and that counts for a whole lot really when I'm considering if I'd want this beast I use for ENWorld and internet access being placed where people would actually look at it.
