So, I'm wondering what are people currently reading?

Myself, I'm currently reading:

Forsaken - the first Scarred lands novel, by Richard Lee Byers

The German Policy of Augustus - an Examination of the Archeological Evidence, by C.M. Wells.

That second one sounds really cool Sulimo.

I'm reading a randomly chosen Black Company novel. I think I picked the wrong one, as it is near the end of the series, and I'm relatively lost.

PS

Storminator: I love that series but I would recomend starting with the Black Company (book one).

As to the post at hand.... I'm near one hundred pages into Book three of a Song of Fire and Ice.

I have Into the Gap book 2 by Donaldson and Lustbader's book one of his new fantasy series..... when I finish these I'm not sure what to read next.... maybe something Not fiction... nahh!

Hmm..forget the title suddenly, but the first Black Company novel after Dreams of Steel. So far, so good. I'm also daily reading a little of the Art of War,just to help plan for my campaign.;)

Well, I just gave up reading Dragon Wing (book 1 of The Deathgate Cycle). I tried, really, but I just can't get into this. I don't like the characters, I find the plot relatively uninteresting, and while I have no problem with flying island settings--I've created one myself for writing and gaming--I find a number of the aspects of the setting to be very annoying.

I've recently started The Outlaws of Sherwood by Robin McKinley. It's a complete reinterpretation of the basic Robin Hood premise. Only a chapter into it, but it seems cool so far. I'm not 100% thrilled with the way she writes dialogue--I much prefer realistic, conversational dialogue than attempts at making the characters sound "medieval"--but at least she does it well, so I can live with it.

(For the record, what I mean by conversational is dialogue like that found in Eddings' Belgariad or his Sparhawk trilogies, or Brust's Vlad Taltos novels. I'm not talking about modern street slang, which would be awful in a fantasy; I just want it to read like real people are speaking it.)

I'm in the middle of the Essential Wolverine 1. The next novel I'm going to read is The Redemption of Althalus by David Eddings.

The Return of the King, again. After this, I don't know; I'm not feeling up to tackling The Silmarillion, but otherwise my choices are still more Tarzan books or the Eddas.

Just finished Dogs of War, an anthology of military science fiction edited by David Drake, and The Startling Worlds of Henry Kuttner a pretty good science fantasy author from the 30's and 40's.
Currently reading Jirel of Joiry by C.L Moore (who happened to have been Kuttner's wife and writing partner.

I am currently reading Dragons of A Vanished Moon, for over month now, just can't get into it. The whole One God thing got annoying really quick and it just wasn't as good as the previous books. Next on my agenda is A Game of Thrones.
