D&D 5E What are you favourite 5e spells?

So far I like Thaumaturgy, Guiding Bolt, Major Image, Imprisonment, Spirit Guardians, Guidance.

I have a thread on Thaumaturgy, Guiding Bolt is cool because its such a team work spell, its got a nice bite of its own, but then you just gave the rogue advantage where he didn't before so not only is he more accurate, but you just granted him sneak attack damage where he might not have had it before, boosting his/her damage by alot.

I like how Major Imagine turns into Permanant Image when stuffed into a 6th level slot, which means a wizards's tower is likely to be filled with Illusions.

I like Prisonment because this verison is so verstile compared to pervious verisons. Before you were just dumped down in the earth, now that's still an option, but now you can say stick them into a deep slumber if you want to be more merciful, or stick them into a gem and carry it with you if you want to keep them around you, or chain them to the town square to make a point. My personal favourite is the Hedge Prison, because a wizard who just wants to do research and not be bothered and to live forever without undeath, might cast that on themselves and create a "prison" that is more of a paradise.

I almost forgot Spirit Guardians, its a consertation spell that encourages you to be in combat.

Its a great defender spell, say the Cleric is blocking the way to the squishy wizard, say a hobgoblin or two tries to make a move towards the wizard they enter within 15 feet of the cleric the spirits flittering around the cleric hit them for radiant damage and they have thier speed cut in half. They can persist, but because they're slower they might not get out of the area of effect in that turn and they get hit again for damage. This also gives the Wizard time to get some space between him and the hobgoblins. Alternately because its a consontration spell, hitting the Cleric could disrupt it, so they have an incentige to hit the cleric instead of going after the cleric. Of course its varistile enough to in some cases be used for more offensive purposes, perhaps the fighter shoves a hobgoblin into that space or knocks him prone in it, I'm not sure how getting up from prone works when your in a space that already halves your speed?

Does it half the half speed. Like if your speed is normally 30 feet, being within the spirits makes that 15 feet and and getting up from Prone makes that 7? or you just lose the other half of you regular speed so you can't move at all.

In some cases, say you have the fighters surrounding you, and enemies are melee only you could force enemies to attack your defenders to get to you, and continuously take damage while you don't take any.

I also like the flavour, your surrounded by fey or Celestials (or fiends if your character is evil), so you can really pick a flavour that fits the character, saying gorgeaus nude nymphs for Sune, Minions of Sharess for Sharess, sage like Angels for a god of knoweldge, or a giant Solar with a huge sword for say Tempus. Or for a priestess of Lloth Yochlols, demons for a worshipper of Grazzt, or Pitfiends for a priest of Asmodeaus.

Also note that the spell is conjuration, not evocation or illusion, so this isn't just spiritual energy or a powerful illusion, its actually summoned beings in spirit form, where they can't be harmed.

The discription for Spirit Guardians says it radiates from the caster.

But its not a sphere so does the 15 foot radiance start in the casters square? Like is it really just the casters square and 5 feet on all sides, or is it 15 feet radiating out from the caster in all directions, like 15 feet ahead, 15 feet behind and to the sides?

The spell's range is: Self (15-foot radius), and in the description it says they flit around you up to a distance of 15 feet. I don't see anything about this not being a sphere. The range says it's a radius which means 15 feet radiating out from the caster in all directions, pretty much a sphere.

Edit: But it doesn't say it actually is a sphere, either, so you could read it as a circle with a radius of 15-feet around the caster...
