What are your deterrent words and length in an Enworld's post

In no particular order:

Formatting, spelling, grammar, compositon. If the post manages to be interesting I can over look any or all of the above, but a post that is poorly formatted, has bad spelling and bad grammar, and reads like a government regulation is very rarely interesting. When it is interesting it is invariably by somebody for whom English is a newly learned second language.

Beyond that, posts that really have nothing to say, antagonistic posts, and posts that miss the point. Thread crapping needs to be flushed as soon as it's discovered. Threadjacking, on the other hand, I'll tolerate because it's dang hard keeping people focused when you can't whack them upside the head.

What else ...

Insults and other forms of personal attacks. Polemics. Me too posts that quote long essays in their entirety. Posts that reiterate what another has said, adding nothing to the conversation. Posts that reiterate what the poster has said, adding nothing to the conversation. Posts that disagree with another post not because of what the original post says, but because of who posted that post.

And misanthropic powertrip fantasies.

That pretty much covers it.
Now c hear, pal:
I dont know watcher problm is with Poland peopel, but yer a poozer. Also as 4 probems with format ---

Formatting will get me too. As will realy bad spelling. Though I can deal with either if it's a short thought.

I generaly turn off anything that is FR specific (not always), rants on future editions, anything module related (Never play them), and usually a post that goes over 5 pages unless I've been following carefully, particularly when it grows by pages in a few hours. I also don't follow non-local game day threads.

But, I will often poke my head into most threads in some way, even when I'm not truely interested in it, becaue i've been supprised by a few thread, and it never hurts to expand my horizons.

FYI - Gamedays are times for Enworlders to get togeather, meet, and game togeather.

The problem is not that he gets investment advice from his stuffed animals, the problem is the advice is good and he ignores it.

Any title that screams the poster has a beef I avoid. Words like rant, sucks, stupid, etc. Also stuff that just seems like gloom and doom, like the current thread about the "market dying." No thanks.

Anything about "4th edition."

And any thread titled "Best. (insert thing here). EVAR! That should be banned forever, drives me absolutely bonkers.

And to agree with everyone else, bad formatting or a post pages long will turn me right off.

I never ignore it - When E.F. PufNStuf talks, people listen.

:D

On a more serious note, though - in addition to stuff that has already been mentioned, I really can't stand posts that use large quantities of "l33t" speak or any other rarified jargon. Even if I can muddle through and understand it, people should write for their audience to understand easily rather than to satisfy some (artistic? intellectual?) impulse they have.

I should avoid 4th ed. threads, but sometimes its like a moth/flame thing.

Alignment threads are usually quickly passed by by me. Yeah, I could argue them until the end of time. But I know how I handle it, it feels right, I move on.
