Angels.
And then some magical beasts (other than unicorns).
And then maybe other low level humanoid types.

It seems odd that almost all Celestials in the MM are immune to charms. I mean yeah, I get that critters that can cast Raise Dead or Greater Ressurection need to be immune to prevent exploits. But that just points to the need for lower-level critters. Smaller celestials would be useful for summon spells too... something like a Conjure Lesser Celestials could become viable.

Immunity to Charm is overly common, but in the case of celestials I think the idea I'd they are beyond basic magical corruption.

Should Asuras be a type of Angel or a separate race of Celestial?

I think as Chaotic celestials Asuras, Vaylkaries, and Bacchae would be important Celestials because they counter balance the predomince of Lawful Celestials. Right now Pegasi are the only celestial to be Chaotic I believe.

I’d love a whole slew of coatl subtypes, maybe even a coatl influenced humanoid, even if it’s a subrace of aasimar.

Also, foo dogs.

I don't see much point in putting much effort into celestials - if the players aren't going to fight it it doesn't need a stat block. The Pathfinder Bestiary has acres of pages of celestials which I have never used and am never likely to.

What about the summon monster and planar ally spells?

Honestly I think that is biggest hindrance to new celestials in 5e: no conjure cherubs (minor celestials) to justify lower level ones, conjure celestial has such a limited CR range (although utility up the wazoo for what you get), and I can't see giving out anything with planar ally more powerful than a deva angel.

They could give some celestials expanded roles, like guardinals actually guarding things (sort of like a sphinx that tested virtue instead of intelligence or power).

Just a few more Celestials to add a bit of variety to the current array.

I'm pretty good with what we have so far.

I wouldn't mind if the design of the MtG archons was reverse engineered onto the pre-4e archons: a gnome-sized humanoid riding a flying mastiff as a "hound archon", a medium humanoid (carrying a tome) riding a roc/phoenix as a "tome archon", etc.

If celestial elves are going to fill the celestial eladrin model, I would like NPC classes that are similar to the pre-4e eladrin, so you could put in a celestial wood elf or celestial drow in the branali NPC class, the same way you can put a humanoid wood elf or drow into the archmage NPC class.
