Astral Admin - Mwahahaha!
Really difficult with so many great choices!

Although I normally gravitate towards arcanists, I think in this instance I'd like to play a raging barbarian who has been reflavoured to be a ranger (the 'rage' is actually 'intense focus').

Sorcerer would normally be a top choice for me, but I don't like either of the options presented - I wish they had something which was neither dragon (too cheesy) or chaos mage (too random).

For the first time ever I'd seriously consider any of the fighters though - they look like so much fun!

I'm thinking High Elf Ranger fluffed as an Arcane Archer.

Although I also have this idea for a Half-Orc Barbarian, but give him the Pirate background and an island accent.

And it just occured to me that a Wood Elf Monk who uses his elven proficiency to be a highly mobile archer is pretty much the movie version of Legolas. Not that I want to play him, but God I love what you can do with this system!

I've yet to build it, but fighters are always my first class to build. Aside from being my favorite class, they're also a good test of how creative and balanced an edition is.

My Rogue hit level 3 last night and the decision on what sub-class to go into is *killing* me.

Leaning Assassin for RP reasons, but the other two choices look so appealing and fun as well.

Spoiled for choice.

Mallus

Legend
When the 5e campaign I'm *not* running starts, I'm going to play him:

Ryu-ken, human monk L1, "Protector of Inns & Innkeepers"

Appearance: A suspiciously graceful balding middle-aged Shou man of medium height.

Standard Array: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 - variant human bonus package: +1 DEX, +1 WIS, +1 skill prof, + 1 feat

STR: 8 (-1)
DEX: 16 (+3)
CON: 13 (+1)
INT : 10 (+0)
WIS: 16 (+3)
CHR: 12 (+1)

HP: 9
AC: 16
Proficiency Bonus: +2

Class Abilities: Unarmored Defense, Martial Arts (1d4)

Background: variant Guild Artisan - Guild Merchant (former innkeeper)

Skill Proficiencies: Acrobatics (class), Stealth (class), Perception (race), Insight (background), Persuasion (background)

Feat: Observant: +1 WIS, read lips, +5 to passive Wisdom (Perception) & passive Intelligence (Investigation) scores

Languages: Common, + 1 (race), + 1 (background), +1 (replaces tool)

Equipment: mule, cart, broom (as quarterstaff)

Personality Trait: Fond of witty fake kung-fu aphorisms.

Ideal: Community - It’s the duty of all civilized people to enforce civility. By force if necessary.

Bond: “I will protect the property of others. Especially inns. Umm, and the people in them, too."

Flaw: Meddlesome & nosy.

Story:

“Once I owned an expensive inn. Great location. At the bottom of Mt. Būji. Had bath in every room. 400-reed count tatami mats for sleeping. Very luxurious. The Inn of Aspirational Happiness.

I got rich. Married several wives. Twice elected Vice President of Greater Kara-Tur Travel and Leisure Association.

Then same old story happened: town overrun by gamblers. Yakuza. I refused to pay extortion money. Hired blind swordsman to protect my inn. Worked out about as well as you'd expect. Yakuza burned the inn down, stole my last wife. So I fled up Mt. Būji.

There I found the Temple of the Elemental Masters of the Universe. Learned kung-fu on credit. Hadouken-style. Now I have terrible credit rating, but pretty good chi. In short I'm a vagrant. Walking up and down on the ground et cetera.”

(bonus points for identifying the double-layer pun in his name...)
