Nah. Rangers (and bards) are often played stupid, but they're usually roleplayed as well as any other class. Rather than using their mix of abilities to enhance their primary specialty (which is fighting for rangers and being sneaky and/or charming for bards, in case people aren't aware), people all too often try to play those classes like uber-multiclasses and then wonder why they don't measure up to fighters, rogues, and sorcerers. But even more puzzling is that this doesn't happen with psychic warriors -- rather than playing them like gimped fighter/psions, people caught on quick that this is a fighting class that uses psionics to enhance his fighting.
