The more there is of all this talk of trying to replicate these tropes, the more I'm convinced that what is needed is not any kind of class/subclass, but a houserule for the implementation of some kind of inspiration mechanic usable on/by friends/allies.

And only then might you consider a warlord class. A class designed to better access or tap into that general houserule.

or we could make the single most asked for class in the edition, and let people who don't like it just not use it..

infact I dare someone to show any class as requested that hasn't been made...

Yes. Exactly.

But social bonds just aren't mechanically represented in D&D.

Maybe they can put in the Tactical module. I'm sure that's coming any day now.

Are you counting number of players, or number of threads started by same 10-20 people?

Evidence? The playtest and surveys would seem to run counter to your assumption. Given the book that was published and subsequent AU articles. If it was in such high demand, where is it?

Besides, repeatedly asked for by a small group is similar, but not the same as, "most asked for".

so you think that superman and captian America know personally everyone they have ever inspired...

superman inspired John Henery Irons the first time they meet...
I'm sorry. You are either implying John Henry Irons didn't know who superman was and already respect him, or that your warlord should be seen as the equivalent of Superman in your D&D games.
