What comics are you collecting/reading?

I'm currently picking up:

Supreme Power
Sojourn - because I admire the artistic merit. I've got to start taking notes...
Tales of the Vampires - because I've been collecting Buffy comics since #1, back when they sold better than Superman.
and in theory, Rising Stars - JMS's first comics foray, still not finished, similar in theme to Supreme Power. It's been... copiously delayed since 99.

I might have to start picking up The Goon too. Looking at the online #1, I'm not so sure; it didn't seem to have quite the verve and ingenuity of other Goon that I've read, which is to say that exploding orangutans and leprotic graverobbers apparently isn't enough for me any more. Oh well.

Knife to the eye!

I've cut down severely and I wait for trade paperbacks most of the time these days. Only one I'm buying is
My Faith in Frankie - Cute story, great art. Plus I know the artist so supporting him.

Really? I browsed through a couple of the TPB's and the art looked so cartoony I assumed it was more of a kid's title.

Absolutely Ultimate Spidey is the best! Best superhero book out there if you ask me. While I don't think there's anything objectionable in it, I don't think that it's written for kids at all. If you liked that issue of Ultimate X-Men chances are real good that you'll like Ultimate Spider-Man as well. Take a look at it.

All of the Ultimate titles
JSA/Hawkman (Black Reign is hardcore. Hawkman going nuts is great)
JLA (may be dropping till Kelly leaves. Too much politics in the book)
Superman/Batman (whoa!)
Batman
Batgirl
Lone Wolf 2100
WildCats 3.0
Planetery
Authority (will be dropping)
D&D comics from Kenzer
KODT
G.I.Joe

Is it me or are alot of us JLA readers/fans just turn off with Kelly's hit or miss writing on this book? For me it been mostly miss. Other than the Burning storyline, Kelly's run has turned me off the book. I'm glad JSA/Hawkman is filling that void.

It's not just you. I dropped Kelly's JLA after way too many issues. I absolutely hated his early stuff on the title (Golden Perfect, Obsidian Age, etc.) and it just got worse afterwards. I will try it out again after he leaves.

JSA and Hawkman are super sweet right now and I'm really curious to see where Geoff Johns takes this current storyline. 'Black Reign' has the kind of vibe going for it that I wish The Authority did. I also really dig the way the rest of the team is eyeing Captain Marvel now that he's (kind of) dating Stargirl. Of course, I'm sure that it'll end up with him revealing his secret ID to them, but right now it's very enjoyable.

I collect & read three:

Sandman

Flaming Carrot

The Tick

Don't really bother with the others, though read a buddy's from time to time if he really insists.

Okay first let me say I'm sorry for not posting to this before now... I'm a long time comic collector that's started and stop 3 different times in my life. I've been currently collecting since 2000.

It's hard for me to recommend titles as I hate not know what's going on in a book, though the genre in general has made it more easy with very noticeable story arcs. So I'll try and recommend books

The ultimate lines (marvel) as mentioned above is really good for new readers as all of the characters back story is gone and it's new beginning in the modern age.

The new Conan series looks good.

I'm a huge Batman fan so I recommend all of his books.

Superman/Batman is some of Loebs best writing I can't recommend it enough.

I liked allot of Crossgen's comic but they axed most of them... but your probably looking for TPB so browse them at your local store and see if they float your boat.

Basically find the characters that you like and read their stories. Also with experience you'll find writers that you like too. :)

Also I collect more comics than I read so I'm rather bad at this... :o (I shall read them someday or so is the plan.)

Yeah thats a story I would like to see finished... BTW it's his second foray into comics. His Babylon 5 series by DC was his first

Nightwing
Robin (Though I am behind on reading it, so I have no idea if Willingham has f'ed up my second-favorite superhero all to hell and back)
Teen Titans
Outsiders (Readers should start to see a definate trend here)
JLA (though I'm taking a break from the title for a few months until the current artist is gone. And preferably buried at a crossroads in multiple peices.)
JSA
Sojourn
Way of the Rat
Scion
Meridian (Both this and Scion are destined to get the Crossgen axe when they implode later this year, due to poor business practices - Thanks, guys)
H.E.R.O.
Gold Digger
Girl Genius
Neotopia (One of the most beautiful fantasy series out now)
Invincible
Legion
The Authority
Nodwick
Dork Tower
PS 238
New Mutants
Namor
Avengers (Trying this again, may not last; want Firestar and Justice back, dammit)
Arrowsmith (Excellent 'Magic as Technology' series)
Smax (Limited series)
Kenzer's D&D comics series.
Flash (Interesting turn for the series, and something I like; I like heroes with secret ID's. Good to see Wally get his back.)
Green Lantern (Back to Earth soon, thank goodness - just in time for Jade give him the ol' heave-ho, I'm certain. Poor bastard doesn't even know Donna is dead.)

Some things, like Tom Strong, Powers and Supreme Power, I just wait for the TPB. I'm doing this more and more. I just picked up the newest (only?) Age of Reptiles TPB; excellent work.

Just wrapped up Terra Obscura. Wildguard wraps soon. Tried Capes (Superheroes as working joes) and Masks (Superheroes in a 'Cops!' setting); Masks is by far the funnier, but I'll give both a little more time. Heroes Anonymous has been good, with two issues under it's belt (HA is superhero group therapy. The first, about a kid sisdekick coming into his own, was cool. The second, about a sheltered kid who takes up his grandfather's mantle as The Gay Avenger and discovers how languages drift over time...)

I collect (in TPB):

100 Bullets
Y, the Last Man
Hellblazer
Hellboy
Powers
Daredevil
New X-Men
X-Statix
Wildcats 3.0
Transmetropolitan
Planetary
Promethea

I also buy everything (and I do mean everything) by Jason Lutes, Scott McCloud, David B., Joan Sfar and Lewis Trondheim.
