What d20 author do you buy sight-unseen?

I will risk, if interested enough in the topic, buying stuff from:

Mike Mearls
Robert J. Schwalb
Michelle Lyons
Ari Marmell
Phil Reed
Gareth Hanrahan
Patrick Younts

I never actually put two & two together. I know Cordell's name is on a lot of my stuff, and I like some of what Cook does, but other bits not so much. I'm the guy who didn't have the money for D&D books as a kid, so I order them on release.

I don't buy anything sight unseen, but stuff by Monte Cook, Sean Reynolds, Mike Mearls and Brice Cordell tends to get bought by me after only a cursory skim in the flgs. Those guys consistently deliver the goods; their stuff is imaginative, inspiring and reads very smoothly as well.

None, but Mike Mearls and Steve Kenson probably have the highest success rate out of all the d20 authors I've read. Both are very prolific and consistently good.

Mike Mearls because I have heard him described as "the dark hope for chaotic evil".
I ran his "Durgen's Folley" about 4 years ago and it was great.

I do not agree with this Phil, you are refering to a different period of time and generation. Back when TSR did the studies movies also never pushed or told who directed it because everyone just focused on the actor. Now, the director has a larger then life factor on things. I think the samething can be said about the current generation, then you add into the fact that we communicate on a mass scale in seconds, not days or weeks.

Another key factor in all this, during the TSR days OGL did not exist and your only fix for D&D products was TSR (In most cases, we know about Mayfair and JG). So when you own most of the market for related material towards your product line, of course sales will be constant.

hehe..Opinions right?
You might also find that there's a higher respect for authors on ENWorld, since the folks here tend to keep a close eye on the industry. I've often found that, when I'm talking to non-ENWorlders, they say "Monte who?" Anecdotal evidence at best, but it's worth mentioning.

Oh and authors that I'll buy sight-unseen: Monte Cook and Bruce Cordell get my vote, though I will say that I usually don't buy things that I don't think I'll use.
