What do Medusababies eat?

Hi all, first post, been a lurker for a while.

The thing is: Our party (D&D 3.5e, forgotten realms) found a Medusa-baby in Undermountain. After a long (and still ongoing) discussion one of the party members decided he wanted to take it with us.

What do those things eat?

I doubt this is "canon", but it'd be interesting if the snake hair required snake food, and the more human baby mouth required mother's milk.

Humans can also subsist on goat's milk, along with wetnurses in place of dear old mom (and of course older babies/toddlers can eat some more basic foods).

Snakes, especially poisonous ones as per medusas, usually eat prey of some sort.

I think it'd be a great image if some of the players were gently nursing the medusa baby with warm goat milk from a wine bladder while others were dangling live mice over her hair.

haha, the discussion still is to either kill it, abandon it, or take it with us.

If we do the last thing, we have to feed it (even though my character is more in favor of the kill or abandon options).

That evil little head won't get near to my character's breasts though...

I like the idea of feeding the snakes meat and the mouth milk. We've got meat, but no milk. interesting to see if it'll live.

Given that medusae turn creatures to stone, perhaps their babies eat pebbles (either fruity or cocoa).

I can't think of anything creative for it to eat but I love the idea of the party saving the baby. It seems like an incredible hook for a plotline.

It would be especially interesting if you could somehow fast forward the campaign to see how the medusa baby turns out based on how it was nurtured by the party. (Although just imagining the possibilities is exciting to me.)

Also Medusas don't have babies, they have winged horses (pegasus)

the debate is only partly nature vs nurture.

It's mostly: how are we going to stay alive in undermountain with a screeming baby in our backpack. It kind of attracks all sorts of unwanted attention.

I think we're doomed if we take it along.

Just show them the baby...

"Oh, it's so cute!!!"

"Yes sir, and now you are a marvelous stone statue!"

You have an infinite wand of flesh to stone, just stick the baby to the fighters shield and let him go first...

flesh to stone ability only manifests in their adolescence, so we have to pickle it for 14 years first.
