What do people play more of nowadays?

What game do you play most/have the most interest in?

I am playing a homebrew game, a heavily modified 3.5, and 4E but I am purchasing the Paizo Adventure Path, so I selected Pathfinder on the poll.

I honestly thought based on reading this forum and RPG.NET that there was more like 80% were playing 4E, and only a few sticking with 3.5. At one point, about 9 months after 4E was released, most polls were showing 90% of the people were playing 4E... (That was before the release of Pathfinder).

So what gives? Did that many people try it and then either go back to 3.5 or move on to something else? Were the earlier polls flawed? Is this poll flawed?

I'm trying to group by similarity as much as possible, but I'm sure I didn't cover everyone.

It seems bizarre to me to lump OD&D with C&C rather than either (or both) of those with AD&D. Really, C&C is separated from OD&D not only by AD&D but also by 3e (to which it has by design certain similarities).

Where are the later Basic, Expert, etc., sets supposed to fit? Did you mean to lump them with OD&D and C&C as well? Are they supposed to be "other"?

The poll on the whole may end up saying more right back to you about your own peculiar view of things than about any prevailing view even among the self-selected sample of respondents.

Other: Star Wars Saga Edition.

Although we switch between SWSE and D&D 4e on a generally bi-weekly basis, I much prefer SWSE. I think I would've been happier with 4e if it had been more like SWSE.

Warhammer 2ed!

A most elegant system, charming fluff, quick rounds of combat.

And a simple but flexible enough system so that you can add a bit of "powers" if you like more "heroic" in that "fantasy". Not that you should, but you can.

Oh, and I started playing this gem thanks to some other guy's comment in a long far ago post, thank you Guy Who Saved My Game!

I run Pathfinder, and I also play in several 3E games. I would like to try 4E as a player, but it's not very popular here and the only group I know of does not need any new players.

Enjoyed WoD when I was playing but as far as what I'm most interested in playing it'd have to be Cyberpunk and Traveller. With preference to the Traveller because it's been too bloody long since I last played it.

Sorry, I played C&C once, and I heard it and BFRPG and OD&D were ery similar in terms of play even though theyre not from the same era. If I was wrong I was misinformed. I haven't played bfrpg, or OD&D, likewise for some of the other games.

By similarity I guess. I haven't seen or played them, only heard them mentioned in passing. and even then, only had that once or twice. I've hardly tried everything, I just wanted to get an estimate of what people here play. If I could add more options for the things I missed, or add the ability to change your vote, I would. That's how I've been handling the same poll on our university rpg club forum (which has drastically different results), but not many people have voted yet.

I was just trying to group by mechanics/playstyle. There are alot of games I simply haven't played, and haven't seen anyone else play. All the ones you have mentioned are things I have little experience with.

I've played C&C (Once), 2eAD&D, 3e, 3.5, pathfinder, trailblazer, 4e, oWoD, nWoD, Exalted, Aberrant, WFRP2e, Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, Paranoia, and Savage Worlds a couple of times (Deadlands).

I could have just listed everything else under other, but I figured I'd try to list them separately even without having much experience with them, so that people would be more likely to see their favorite game on the list. Sorry I missed some, and didn't group them all the way you would have preferred. it was bound to happen regardless of my efforts, as there is no way I have played every RPG that some guy on the internet considers his favorite.

It also occurs to me now that I missed cyberpunk, rifts/palladium, traveller, and shadowrun, along with many others now springing to mind, all of which I have NO real idea how the game actually works. I know rifts/palladium is supposedly complicated, and shadowrun uses alot of d6es.

I assure you, it was not meant as a personal slight against you. How would you have grouped them together, and what extra would you have listed instead of lumping them under other?

I'll go see if I can add new options to the poll/allow re-voting, for what it's worth, but I don't think itll let me.
{Edit} Nope. Can't add more options/allow re-voting.

I'm dying to play 4E again, but currently I'm running a Star Wars d6 campaign set in 9 BBY (now advanced to 8 BBY). It is a bounty hunting campaign, filled with underhanded dealings, jedi on the run (including two in the party), spice dealing, and slavers.
