What do you do for...half elves?

Just curious. They seem like they're lacking in 3.5.

I was thinking of letting you choose either +1 skill point per level or a feat from a small list of feats at character creation (no changing).

I allow them just that, though I put no limit on the feat as long as they qualify for it.

I give 'em the human skill point bonus -- basically, "Half-Elf" is a feat that a Human can take at 1st level.

Elves can be antagonists, though -- there are plenty of Elfbane weapons out there, so the "Elf Blooded" thing isn't a pure bonus.

I like the +1 skill point idea, but if you wanted to give them something similar to that but more unique you could try this:

Natural Bent: Half-Elves choose a single skill in which they have a natural ability. For classes in which that skill is normally a cross-class skill, it is considered a class skill. For levels of classes in which it is already a class skill, one free rank (or four ranks at 1st level) is gained in that skill.

If you want to give them a little more, you can give them a free Skill Focus feat to go with it.

Would mess with some PrC requirements, though...

I ignore them, just like I ignore all of the other "half races." In my campaign, humanoid blood doesn't mix.
I second that - IMC each humanoid race is a different species, adapted to different conditions; biologically speaking, they are too distant to reprouce well enough.

I give them the extra feat. Since all my halfelf players went for style anyhow, I didn't have to care about restricting the feat (see Aladar in my sigged shortstory).
