D&D 5E What do you think they call 5.5e Ultimately?

The same thing they are calling 5E: "Dungeons & Dragons."

I am sure the community will come up with something to distinguish it from the 2014 version (OG 5E), but the official branding won't use it anymore than the current version calls itself "5E."

They at least have to call the new core PHB/MM/PHB something to distinguish them from original 5e core books, the 50th Anniversary Player's Handbook, at which point everyone will call it the Anniverary Edition, Ae maybe for short.

This. WotC doesn't want to reignite the edition wars / edition church, so they try to avoid using an edition number as much as possible. I know they sometimes refer to the game as "5e" or "5th edition" in interviews, but it's pretty much nowhere in their published products.

If they have to call the 2024 books something different to distinguish them from the 2014 ones, then my bet will be on some variation of "anniversary edition" as others have said.
