What does a tank graveyard mean to you in your game?

My first thought with the term "tank graveyard" is basically a stockpile of mothballed military equipment. This is a real thing that exists in many places, both with tanks and other items.

If I was a player and was told I came across one, the first thing I would investigate is why the tanks (or other equipment) were mothballed. Sometimes it's because they're destroyed (like the post-WWII plane graveyard scenes in The Best Years Of Our Lives). Sometimes they're just decommissioned because there's new equipment. And sometimes tanks are mothballed immediately after manufacturing due to over production. Depending in the situation, a tank graveyard could be a dangerous dump or a playground of free firepower.
A lot of our equipment dumps, and the Soviets, were parked the way they were for verification purposes after the strategic forces limitation treaty in the 90's. We both watched with satellites.

Too bad they cancelled that show. I thought it showed real potential.
It tanked?

Which leads to another possibility - a vault containing the orignal movie reels for failed movies, or a storeplace for props of movies from "tanked" movies that are waiting to be used in other movies to save on the budget (Such as the old Backlot Tour graveyard at the old Hollywood/MGM Studios in Walt Disney World).

It tanked?
Like all Fox Sci-Fi shows of the 90's and 00's that weren't Buffy related, it was put in death-slots.
And it ended on a MAJOR cliff-hanger ending.

Perhaps, someone personally funded completions or even extra seasons, never released...

If my game was a Weird Wars adventure, it might mean or evoke something like this...

On the leeward side of gnarled and singed bocage, the wounded and burning carcasses of heavy metal, felines - German Jagdpanther and Jagdtiger tanks. The fallen prey of deadeye Anti-tankers, laying silent and smoldering in a hollow. Mere shadows of their former steel glory, now interred in graves of mud and mist.

Over the hollow's rim looms six, elite SS Blood Mages; vicious and cruel horrors of the Ahnenerbe and the pride of Himmler. Dragging the dying bodies of resistance fighters, they daub their blood and tattoo the tanks with twisted, menacing runes. Transferring the last drops of their victim’s blood into incredible occult power, they motion weird gestures and awaken the steel beasts.

Steel tracked, arcanely fueled and belching the hellish fire of Muspelheim, they roar to life. Ascending the hollow’s slopes, free from their graves and driven by their own will, once again they prowl the battlefield.

So yeah, it's kind of like a necromantic tank graveyard, in which dead steel rises once again. 😵‍💫
