What familiars would you like to see stat'd?

I really like some of the ideas mentioned, especially:

rock
pixie
lantern archon
kiwi
monkey (imagine a wizard that dresses his monkey like a Mini-Me)

A PrC focusing on familiars is interesting, but seeing as NONE of the official or semi-official arcane PrCs offer familiar advancement, I think an optional rule would be helpful, like paying a certain experience penalty might allow familiar advancement every other level.

Another thing I'd like to see implemented are familiars with alternate forms, like the cat that can transform into a tiger (from the Dancer of Sharess PrC in Dragon). There are a few ways to go about this (special class ability, spell, magic item), so I'll leave it to you to figure out the best way.

I'd definitely go for otters. They are the coolest animals.

However, I don't think familiars should have much combat effectiveness. Most of these options presented here would be better under the Leadership feat, as a cohort.

Munchy? You want Munchy? Give me rules for having Multiple Familiars. I want 8 Formian Workers for my Dwarven Wizard. Bwa ha ha.

I've been drinking, can you tell?

the Rules for extra familiars, construct familiars, undead familiars, familiars that work like wondrous figurines etc are in one of the Dragon Magazines, it is basically a feat for each type etc....

or a person. Your familiar is just some guy. Human Familiar. That would be pretty cool.

Are you someone i know? i only ask because i have made the floating, intelligent smartmouthed skull a reality in my games before for one of my players? :)

1. Any creature with the shadow template
2.Gargoyle ('Cause come on, they're cool)
3.Mephits (because they just look like something that would be a familiar)
4.Will-O'-Wisp
5.Monsterous Spiders of any kind

I agree Mephits would be cool..

someone mentioned shocker lizards and Imps..those two are already possible via Improved Familiar feat (see Tome and Blood)

One of the NPC's in my current campaign has a Pseudo shadowdragon familiar which is a hybrid pseudodragon that had the shadow template attached by means of a spell i made that has an XP cost, two were then bred which propogated a new species.

I have rules on familiar advancement as well as ways to augment them with special abilities beyond those normally obtained... so no problem there ;-)
