What Fantasy rpg's, other than D&D, do people enjoy?

I guess I'm willing to go deeper with this. With the plethora of, not just fantasy but, roleplaying games in general why is it that Dungeons and Dragons continues to be the #1 selling game?
Brand recognition, momentum in the industry, history, support in a variety of mediums and just plain better marketed than any other roleplaying game.

In addition to all of the d20 games that I enjoy, I would play Top Secret, Dark Conspiracy, and Runequest if I had the chance.

I was just wondering what games besides Dungeons and Dragons do people play and enjoy. I am about to start a Stormbringer campaign and was recently reading through the book again and realized how muich simpler the rules were for this game than Dungeons and Dragons. This is not a flame, I own all core 3.5 books and play D&D on a semi-regular basis. I am just curious to see if people have widened their horizons, as far as fantasy games, and found anything worthwhile.

While I love 3.5, I have also recently discovered the joy of Hackmaster

In the past, I played Champions and (original) Gamma World besides AD&D. Now, it's D&D almost exclusively, with the occasional foray into the world of Giant Monster Rampage.

Is it that most roleplayers are unwilling to try new systems or is Dungeons and Dragons that good?

Well I think D&D is pretty good, so I don't usually bother with other systems.

I wonder if there is also a tendancy for the best game designers to gravitate towards D&D. Besides the better pay and prestige possibly associated with it, is there perhaps a feeling that being a designer for D&D is 'major league' compared to other systems?

Hero is my system of choice. I am currently falling in love with what they have done to fantasy. I had always argued that the system did not work for fantasy but with changes in magic .... bingo.

Age of Heroes a freeby on the net. Really pretty good.

I bought all the MERP stuff and by alot of the 7th Sea stuff even though I don't play cause they were good reading.
