What goes well with Goblins?

Another idea is to have some of the goblins as Gobbers (from the Iron Kingdoms) who are tinkerers, perhaps they try to emulate the great artificer of the past, in the process creating some basic constructs (and a lot of scrap metal). the rest of the goblins might be in awe of these kin who understand the ways of the machines... or they could give them a wide berth, not wanting to be near them when their next creation goes haywire/blows up.

Slitheren/Ratmen/Skaven! :) I mean just cause the Goblins run the show doesn't mean there shouldn't be some "behind the scenes power plays" going on. :D

Hmm ... when I looked at this thread's title, "What goes well with goblins?" the thread directly below it was, "Nymphs, Centaurs, and Other Fey Creatures!"

There may be something in that...

No it's just your imagination. Besides goblins and fey don't really work that well together. Believe me, I've tried.

Well, for flavor you could have the goblins using giant bats as flying mounts as suggested earlier, but also you could have rickety, goblin chariots drawn by trained dire-rats. I can hear it now, both the shoddy workmanship of the chariots and the dire-rats squeaking away as they charge into battle...

Since they're nearby an Artificer's place, I'd suspect constructs....

And not just any constructs....you know the goblins from World of Warcraft at all? Little green guys, great tinkerers. They make constructs themselves, and update 'em. I'd expect some goblins to have a higher-than-usual Int and have taken up the mantle of the Artificer, or perhaps some other arcane spellcaster. Goblins are about as smart as your average human, so turning them into ingenious inventors isn't that big of a leap.

Goblins, golems, maybe less worgs and more whirligigs and dynamite and firearms and such...

Think constructs, think wizards, think arcane magic....Goblins won't be any more shabby at that than any of the rest of the core races, after all.

Maybe some of these constructs are used as garden gnomes or statuary. :)

Since it's been so long since the wizard has been around, they could have ceased functioning, or simply stand there waiting for orders. The goblins couldn't use them, couln't move them either, so they built around them (or on them). Also makes a nice place to grow creeper type plants (grapes, mosses, fungus, etc).

Side quest: One of the constructs wakes up...

... since the orcs to the north have made a move at the kingdom.

The goblins have an informal alliance with a dwarven gypsy clan. The dwarfs (ostensibly neutral) keep tabs on the orcs and report back to the goblins. The goblins (among others) provide muscle for the dwarfs when things get tough. As a result the orcs lay off the dwarfs whenever the gypsies come to trade and tinker. Though they are starting to get suspicious.

Goblin werewolves - now thats kewl

Actually I always thought were-rats were more goblin-esque.

P.S.

In Eberron Campaign Soursebook they have a feat called "Vermin Companion". So giant wasp mounts are possible.
