What happened with true one-shots?

I'm running a random 4e pickup game that's just a string of modules with little to no "campaign play" in them. And the last time we played, I ran a full Dungeon module in one session! It was Box of Flumph, and let me tell you, it was totally awesomely fun, with the pcs calling the flumphs "pancakes with noodles" and threatening to eat them. :)

Before that we played "There is No Honor..." and it took us, hmm, I think two sessions? Before that was the Lost City, which we played for about three sessions and then had a tpk of the pcs present.

Next up- maybe the moathouse from T1, maybe the first Age of Worms, maybe a return to the Lost City... I really don't know. I ought to run an old homebrew adventure or two in there, too. :)

Well, to be fair, most of the one-shots I played and ran back in the days weren't D&D, although I remember the odd Dungeon Magazine adventure, so it might very well be that they never existed :D

Thanks for the heads-up on RPGA and Pathfinder Society adventures. I'll have a look at them. My main concern right now is finding some 4e one-shots, 3-hour tops, to lure my "board-but-no-roleplaying-games" addicted friends. With my regular Pathfinder (previously D&D 3.5) group, campaign play is the game. M&M one-shots would be great, too. My problem is that I've been spoiled by good quality modules, and don't feel like writing my own adventures now.
