I'd let him strap a dagger to the stump, if he wants.

I'd rather have a wand or three there instead... :p

Oh, and if it's the wizard's left hand that got cut off, well, there is a certain artifact that can 'remedy' the situaton... ;)

If the wizard is of Good alignment, convinve him to chop the rest of that arm off, then have the party chip in to buy him an Arm of Nyr... :D

Was the wizard left or right handed, and which hand did they cut away? If it was his offhand, losing it is not so big deal, because you only have to get used to having only one hand. But if it was his primary hand I would give him the penalties for a long time, because he has to learn to use his offhand as his primary hand.

You shouldn't. It's perfectly legal to cast a S,M spell while wielding a one handed weapon and thus having only one free hand. Cleric do it all the time as well as many elven wizards.

If the wizard is high level enough, his hand become an artifact. It works also with eyes. However, despite the rumors, it don't works with heads.

;)

I thought the head idea was pretty cool, and it did what it was supposed to do. As it got rid of some idiots, while making everyone else look in disbelief and laugh their asses of.:D
