That's what I was thinking, but I'd hope they'd just revise 3.5 and just call it 4e. The decimals can get silly.
 


I think it should be called...

Dungeons and Dragons: Definitive Third Edition

That way they can have a few tweaks (polymorph, etc.), but none of us will feel like we're truly changing editions (even though we will be).

I think they should do what they did with previous editions and just make minor changes (for example, incorporating swift & immediate actions in the core books) without updating the edition in any way.

When new printings of the core rules are released, have a page with the update history like software does, so people buying it can see what is different from their buddies copy. The next PHB edition might have notes like "Polymorph spell revised," "Immediate Action & Swift Action added," etc.

Edition changes should be reserved for major overall changes to the game, not tweaks, errata and limited updates.

I would prefer if they just had D&D on the cover, over a gaint X that filled the whole cover.

In other words, let's just same me some money and skip to 10th edition.
