I--like so many--voted 25. My preference is 28, however, since that's closest to the actual average of 4d6-lowest, as proven by some math-whiz here on the boards. After all, with 28, you can get the 'standard' 16,14,14,12,10,8 (or 15,15,14,12,12,8) array that seems to work for all but the most MAD (multiple-ability-dependent) character builds, especially considering the magic you can get access to, and the +1 every 4 levels. Sure, monks suffer a little bit, as do rangers who don't want to be wilderogues, but that's the price you pay.

No Points! I thrive on characters will all 8's! What a challenge! Give me a Wizard with 8 Int anyday!

Nah. I voted 28. I *might* consider 25, but I'd probably be unhappy with it.

I voted 28. I played in a 25 point buy game and didn't care for the stats it would come up with (which were 9 times out of 10 the 'elite' array anyways). Every single PC had the 15, 14, 13, 12 thing.

22, in an average game. If there was a special concept behind the game, I could live with anything.

I prefer the 28-32 range, but have in past played in several campaigns with 45-point buy.

The minimum I'd play with is 6 points. It would be a game called Evolution where my character would be an amphibian that just flopped out on to the surface. My goal would be to build up my stats and develop until I became a minotaur. My first objective would be to gain levels and put my stat bonuses in intelligence. That way I could find magic books and read them to further boost my stats, eventually finding a way to reincarnate into something more viable. Of course everyone would have to start with 6 points, otherwise people would just be minotaurs right away and my little blob of jelly would be outclassed.

I wanna play in this game.

Now, I will say that the point buy completely depends upon the campaign. Now, I'd have no problem trying out a 0 or 4 point short game. But, for a campaign, the lowest I'd go is probably 10 or 12, but for the low end I'd prefer 15 or 16.

Course, I got used to playing rather ineffective characters a while back (one intentionally, the other not), so I'm trained for low point buy.
