What is the most damage that a character could do in 1 hit against an AC 80+?

This is to find out who could possibly drop someone like the super AC man without using offensive spells.

You can use a 32-point buy, all Forgotten Realms races; you may also polymorph or shapechange. This is going to be at 20th level and 760,000 gp worth of equipment.

No Psionics or buff spells from outside sources. Only the attacker may cast buff spells in preparation for the attack.

Power Attack anyone?

I'd use effects like Hunter's Mercy (MaoF) or Power Critical (MotW) to actually score hits. With luck, you might even confirm the crit if you roll a 20.

I would mess with him without spells. But I sure it could be done.

I'd stick with surprise him and hit him with a ranged touch harm and a quikened cause moderate wounds.

With no spells... I'd have to go with the bucket of snail, one out of 20 would hit him.

Power Crit would not work. You have to roll a hit (it just makes a hit a crit).

Sneak attack

Most of that 80+ is done by making stats other than Dex count toward AC, then pumping the crap out of those stats along with dex. All dodge bonuses don't apply against suprise attack. At lvl 20, a rogue has +10D6 sneak damage. Bluff for a round (this AC dude hasn't a chance in the skill point arena), then slice. Repeat.

More effective is rogue 13, Sor 7. Improved Invis, haste, probably hit twice per round at +7D6. If needed, throw in some true strike action. :D

Assume this is an arena battle... Forgot to mention that!

Each character KNOWS the other one is going to be there...

Easy . . .

Without offensive spells?

Okay, I'm a Human Ftr6/Wiz11/WeaponMaster3 with an Exotic Weapon Proficiency Weapon Focus, and Improved Critical in Mercurial Greatsword in Mercurial Greatsword. Str 32 (18 natural, +4 levels, +4 inherent), Dex 14, Con 10, Int 16 (15 natural, +1 levels), Wis 8, Cha 8. I have a Mercurial Greatsword and the Antimagic Field spell.

Round 1: Cast Antimagic Field.

Round 2: Attack. Threat? Confirm! Increased Multiplier!! Damage? Maximum!!!

Super-Duper AC Man takes 140 damage! (That's massive damage! What? Failed the save? TERMINATED!)

Human Incantrix 10, Wizard 5, Sacred Exorcist 5

Str: 18 (base) + 5 (levels) + 19 (Super-Incantrix** Bull's Strength) +4 (inherent) = 46
Intelligence: 18 (base)+17(incantrix Fox's cunning)+4 inherent+3 age = 42
Charisma: 18 (base) + 19 (Super-Incantrix** Eagle's Splendor) +4 (inherent) + 3 (age) = 44

feats: iron will, empower spell, Power attack, Improved Shield Bash, Shield Charge, Divine Shield, Divine Might, Cosmopolitin - bluff, delay spell, extend spell

skills: Concentration 4, K(arcana) 8, K(planes) 8, K(religion 10) Spellcraft 4, Bluff

Equipment: ironwood Rhino hide, brilliant energy shield of bashing +5,

Casts extendedx1, empoweredx6or7 (depending if super or not) bull's strenght, fox's cunning, and eagle's splendor.

The next day cast haste then time stop. Then cast expeditious retreat, limited wish for a divine strenth, superior invisibility, limited wish for divine favor, limited wish for bless weapon (on shield), and then teleport to teleport close by to your victim. Then cast 5 delayed tensor's transformations in four rounds all delayed so that they will all go off the fifth round. Then cast limited wish for a divine power and use divine shield. On the fifth round use divine might and a delayed true strike. The sixth round, 5 tensor's transformation will be in effect, one divine power and the 3 ability boost spells as well as divine shield and divine might.

Charge your opponent during the surprise round - when he loses his dex bonus anyway.

Your effective stats are:

+70 BAB = +50 (from five tensor's transformations), +20 (from divine power)
+18 Str
+17 Divine shield
+20 True strike
+6 divine favor

+141+d20/d8+58. Every attack automatically scores a threat and with an AC 80, confirmation is automatic. Therefore, automatic criticals. Thus actual damage is 4d8+232...per hit. On round 1, if the guy actually sticks around you get to attack 15 times at +141/+141/+136/+131... each dealing 3d8+174 dmg.

I am sure there are ways to make this attack even more devastating with other spells and abilities. This method also has a good chance of hitting AC 201 man with the brilliant energy negating 20 points of that AC, and the bluff negating another 72 points of it, making his AC only 109. Could still hit with the majority of attacks on a full attack. If you want to make sure bluff works every round simply make an item that gives +40 to bluff. You already have a +40 to the check. If you want to be gross just have the +80 to it. If you bluff, you are only attacking once a round. Whatever.

You know, I bet this qualifies as a smackdown :).
