What is the worst CRPG you've ever played?

Well, I for one have a new winnah....

Final Fantasy II (the Japanese release, part of Final Fantasy Origins).

It's not a problem with graphics or sound - I understand this is an old game...

The reason I'm calling it the worst evar is how it begins. I've been playing it for six hours (according to the game clock) and I'm still unable to leave the presence of the first two towns. Either I need to fight goblins and stranglers for paltry xp and gold awards, or get creamed by monsters that deal 3x my hit point total in damage on each attack.

I don't feel like sitting around and playing with goblins for the next 2 days to make any headway.

Because of the presence of what is arguably the worst ramp up in monster power I've ever seen (I've tried and failed to find foes that are about equal to my characters to fight) I award Final Fantasy II my golden turkey. This game SUCKS.

Oh well, the disk isn't a total loss - Final Fantasy I is still on it.

FF2 is without a doubt a terrible RPG, but it certainly isn't even close to the worst one ever. For a real hoot, go find and play Beyond the Beyond.

Console, yeah, Beyond the Beyond is pretty bad. IMHO, Albert Oddyssey was worse, though.

Computer, the first Realms of Arkania game. It thought it would try to be super-realistic, so your characters could get colds and suck, and you had to make sure they had shoes. Not just one pair, but lots.

I gave up, and nearly threw my computer out the window, when my party was travelling through the mountains (they all caught colds, naturally), and apparently there was a random event, one of the characters tripped and lost his shoe. And it was their last pair of shoes (I had only bought 3 pairs for each character, silly me, not realzing that worse out so fast). Not wearing shoes caused damage, so I was screwed.

Megatraveller and Space: 1889. The computer versions of the excellent Space: 1889 was unbelievably bad,

For console, I don't play them often, but Azure Dreams with its scripted ending.

I was one of the lucky ones with that game, it did not destroy my operating system. Not only one of the worst computer RPG',s but one of the worst computer games ever. Ignoring that the game played havac with the operating system, there was ZERO character customizaion. Depending on your class and level, your skill points and feats were predetemined for you, also they left out at least one major race and class from 3rd ed.
