What is worth the time?

Okay, I am looking into downloading some sort or DM assistant.
I have heard of DMGennie and maybe a couple of others.
What are some of the better ones?
I am looking for a program that has random generators (magic items, spellbooks, nps, encoutners, weather and the likes) plus a way to track the progress of the campaign and to have my person DM notes in it.
Also, I use almost all published texts, so the more information and variation in the program the better.

I have always been very happy with DM's Familiar (DMF). Comes with everything in the SRD, and fan support on Yahoo groups provides the content of other books that are technically not OGL. These files are password protected.

Last time I used it, though, it doesn't have the sort of generators you're looking for. To the best of my knowledge no single program does that, though there are several websites that do part.

While it doesn't do generators "out of the box", you can get an add-on for DMF that allows you to use TableSmith tables inside of it. There are TS tables available for all the items mentioned in the first post.
