It's interesting to see what kind of responses people are giving! My goodness there are some, um... flexible campaigns out there! I don't think any of the GMs I play with would allow a lot of those combos.

Based on the character I play most frequently, I voted fighter. The character was straight fighter until 9th level when I took him into the Tempest PrC. I usually prefer to stick to one or two classes; any more and I just get confused trying to keep track of class abilities and cross-class skills.

I answered cleric, as one of my two PCs is a 4th-level dwarven cleric.

The other, however, whom I consider my primary PC, is a 3rd-level cloistered cleric / 3rd-level necromancer / 8th-level mystic theurge. There's no room for him in your poll, so he's just gonna crouch out here on the cobblestones.

A ridiculously multi-classed character, ATM, for an Eberron game:

An 8th-lvl. half-elf barbarian/half-elf paragon/extreme explorer (who'll get levels in human paragon, ala the Divided Ancestry ability of the half-elf paragon). This is my replacement character for my old character, an Aundair human bard/human paragon, cousin of the aforementioned half-elf.

"What class are you playing right now," doesn't sound like a tough choice question.

I voted Ranger; I love rangers, and they're probably the ones I play the most of the basic classes, but my current character is a Fast Hero 3/Gunslinger 1. My next character will probably be a Ninja (from Complete Adventurer) or a Soulknife (from Expanded Psionics Handbook/SRD).

I voted Sorcerer because that's my highest-level character at the moment (14th). In a second active campaign I play a Cleric (6th).

In two current PbP games I play a Fighter/Shugenja and a Rogue, tho the latter's game is quite stuck at the moment.

I'm playing a librarian with some psionic and magical skills and a spear in a GURPS fantasy game, a Merchant in a T20 Traveller PBEM, an ethically challenged mechanic in a Classic Traveller game, and soon I'm playing assorted Maziani in a StarCluster troupe PBIRC in Chris Cherryh's merchant/union universe.

Only one of them has a class, so I guess it's Vasilii KugiiKiishshi, Merchant 7. Hmm, seems I can't vote.

An, funnily enough, as I vote, it's pretty much split even between Fighter, Cleric, Rogue and Wizard. Even after all of these years, the 4 basic classes still hold the throne.

Yes, but it's a small sample size and Ranger and Paladin aren't too far behind. I wouldn't read too much into it.
