Llangwyr

I like Llangwyr because its on the edge of nowhere, yet its the last stop for those traveling north along the border river by ship. the town is on both sides of the river (which is always fun) and there isnt too much writen about it so I can customize it to my hearts content. its cosmopolitian at 25,000 people and more worldly then even Melaid. I have a lot of ideas for the surrounding countryside and so far my players seem to like it.

My favourite city to set a campaign in is without a doubt one of two places.

If I want Urban I go for Waterdeep every time, not just because I am more familiar with it than anywhere else, and have everything released about it since FR came out.......OR because it has a vast sprawling 14+ level dungeon beneath its sewers..but because the place has everything that can be imagined going off there.

If however I want a rural game Eveningstar is my favourite, the place is relatively small has an appealing NPc the Lady tessaril ruling it, it is close to seveeral wild areas, it has abandoned keeps and a dungeon nearby and is also a pretty good central place from which to set off to most other places in the realms.

In hindsight I would also have to say the Village of Hommlett also holds a special place in my memory as a great small community for the PC's to come to care about and get involved with while still maintaining a vast amount of its own intrigue. And likewise with Kendall Keep from Keep on the borderlands.

I've used various cities in my campaigns, usually my own ones. I'll have to check out bluffside though, since so many people recommend it.:D

Personally, I use homebrew cities exclusively. However, I'm not going to sit here and spill them all out here and now. Frankly, I'm not sure anyone cares... yet.

However, I am familiar with a few cities, and overall every one I've seen has had something to add. Of published cities, I would have to say I'm most familiar with Waterdeep. I also like Lahnkmar, Karemikos, Sigil, and the city presented in the Citybook series a number of years ago.

I'm unfamiliar with Bluffside, but it's looking like I might have to check it out.

I have a PC in Freeport right now, so I'm not entirely at liberty to investigate what's available there.
