What is your favorite Star Wars film?

Wow. 115 votes and ZERO for Phantom Menace. And a mighty four for Attack of the Clones. How telling....

And you really shouldn't count my vote for AOTC...I thought it'd be funny because I figured nobody would vote for it. The only SW movie that I care for much is Empire...it's not even close.

I can only hope that the other three AOTC voters were being silly as well. I mean, even Phantom Menace was better than Clones...

Original Empire, definitely. The SE Empire has some good points: for example adding opaqueness to the Hoth battle (which is really subtle, anyway), and the windows and balconies in Cloud City which I think did improve the look. But I don't really like seeing more of the wampa, and some of the added voiceovers seemed lame.

I'd probably go with ANH as my favorite, but I won't vote in the poll since you separated the original and SE versions, and I don't think the changes merit the distinction.

Well, in SE Star Wars, there is the infamous "Greedo shoots first" nonsense that people hate. OTOH, Lucas restored the scene near the end where Luke meets Biggs in the hangar on Yavin IV, which I think was good. Then there's the inclusion of Jabba, which I'm sort of neutral on. I think it's good Lucas restored it, but the Jabba graphics are horrible (the CGI Jabba in TPM looked a lot better.)

Does that surprise you? Doesn't surprise me at all nor does it tell anything that I didn't know before. The first 2 were better than any of the other films.

The use of the words "I don't think..." wasn't an accident. What other people think about it doesn't matter to me. TO me the changes aren't significant enough to classify them as separate movies.

RotJ: OE for the same reason I'd pick Return of the King. Whenever I see the scene where Luke is hiding in the shadows while Vader taunts him with threats against Leia, and Luke ignites his saber and screams bloody murder at his father it sends shivers down my spine. Nothing like a big emotional payoff, even if it did have frickin' Ewoks. Anyway, Ewoks seem cooler than a big container full of cool stuff in comparison to Jar-Jar.

ESB is the best of the lot, IMHO of course; I will add that I found the special edition touch-ups for that film actually help it somewhat (Bespin looks bright and airy, the shots inside the snow speeders look crisp and clear). So I voted ESB SE.

I would have picked the ESB SE, except for the scene where Luke screams like a girl when he purposefully throws himself off the catwalk in Bespin. Originally, he's silent when he does it so you know he does it on purpose. In the SE you wonder if he slipped or something. It's a much cooler scene when he rolls off and falls in complete silence. This change baffles me more than Greedo shooting first.

What's wrong with Ewoks?

What is the big deal with Ewoks? Why are they so hated? Granted, Lucas may have included them as some sort of kiddie stuff, but I've never found them to be as jarring as say, the Gungans. I don't understand the dislike for them at all.

As for the Gungans, I'd say Lucas blundered. I think they're actually a good idea that was very poorly implemented. And Jar-Jar certainly doesn't make it better.

I'd never had much of a problem with them until I found out that it was supposed to be Wookies fighting the Imperials originally, which I think we all know would have RAWKED.

I've got nothing but love for the Ewoks, but then I see a whole Vietnam War subtext to that battle, so maybe it's just me :D.
