The Winged Lord Pharazin, Decimator of plebes and Illusionist of Ill-Repute.
My 1E Illusionist who for awhile had big bat wings due to another character's use of a polymorph wand. 'Decimator of plebes' came from the 2 saves (1st to disbelieve) the DM gave to folks getting hit by Pharazin's Phantasmal Force Lightning Bolts. Only killed plebes (from plebeian - low level commoner types) with that spell.
Kept the entire title even after managing to get rid of the bat wings.
On a tangent but similar in spirit. In the early 80s we played Starfleet Battles in a campaign mode. My 3 DXs (uprated Klingon D7 Battlecruisers) were named Kinslaughterer, Satansfist and Fleshharrower...from Stephen R. Donaldson's Thomas Covenant books.
I'm right there with you in the Jack Vance love, but one character's name was particularly disturbing:
Chun the Unavoidable
It is particularly horrific in that you know what Chun is going to unavoidably collect. Even so, the other character, Liane the Wayfarer, didn't have a bad epithet.
