In my Codex of the Infinite Planes history, I have one Vlar the Daring... who history came to remember as Vlar the Unfortunate. His story did not end well. ;-) In RealLife, nobody can beat Vlad the Impaler, but (as several people have already listed) there are alot of other great historical monikers, Richard the Lionheart and William the Conquerer are perhaps my favorites.

And there's Edward, Hammer of the Scots, but William the Conquerer is always my favorite too.

I believe the British attack sub that sank the Belgrano during the Falklands war was William the Conquerer or the "Conquerer" for short.
